Please Note: Internships are UNPAID and structured to last approximately 12 weeks. Resume and cover letter are required for application. Please include days/hours of availability in your cover letter and a college reference contact at the end of your resume. Students should have a strong academic record and good character. Students must have completed their sophomore year in college prior to the start of the internship. In addition, students may not have graduated college or graduate school prior to the start of the internship (i.e. students must still be enrolled in school during the time of the internship). Students must be receiving course credit for DC internships. Note to International Students: All international students will be required to provide documentation of proper visa paperwork prior to arrival if accepted to the program. Only student visas J1 or F1 visas will be accepted. The deadline to apply for winter/spring internship is November, 18th 2009 and the internship program is slated to begin on January 13th, 2010. Internship Description: CNN Productions is CNNs Peabody and Emmy award-winning documentary unit. This intern will shadow and observe the programs producers, video editor and managing editor in the Washington Bureau. The intern will learn how to conduct research, show production, and development of stories for one and two-hour long programs. The intern will also assist with tape and photo research and whenever possible accompany producers on shoots in the field in the Washington area. Reporting experience and basic production skills (dubbing etc.) are helpful. Interns need to be available during the week. Qualifications: In order to facilitate the learning experience, the following qualifications are preferred. Candidate should be seeking a career in broadcast journalism, preferably as a producer. Should be self-motivated, ability to work in a team environment and multi-task, have a good attitude, and be able to function well in an environment with short deadlines and quick turnaround projects.
