Process Engineer

Designs, plans, and conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production; establishes and submits processing requirements to be met in designing and acquiring processing equipment SUMMARY OF POSITION: Improves safety, quality, and productivity of a fast-paced solid dose pharmaceutical operation. Responsible for all aspects of project management including procedures, training, integration and follow-up. Conducts studies to identify opportunities for improving productivity and reducing costs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/SKILLS: 1. Use problem solving techniques to resolve operating difficulties, eliminate waste, improve productivity and safety, and assist in training. 2. Drive six sigma and lean thinking methodology throughout operations in support of continuous improvement efforts. 3. Troubleshoot current process and equipment for optimization and quality improvement. 4. Provide technical support and problem resolution. 5. Direct and coordinate projects as assigned. 6. Generate SOPs as needed. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS: 1. Work with Production Superintendent and Production Manager to develop project scope and cost details for capital budget preparation. 2. Regular participation in production daily operations meeting and team problem solving efforts. 3. Ensure all mechanical and electrical design changes are properly documented. 4. Active participation in development and or modify existing equipment operating procedures and cleaning procedures, maintenance procedures, and calibration requirements/procedures. 5. Assist project engineering with installation and startup of process and product upgrade projects. 6. Manage special projects or tasks as assigned. 7. Provide engineering details for utility service requirements and reliability.
