Howrey LLP, recently acknowledged as an "A" list firm in The American Lawyers list of "the best law firms in the land" and a 2008 "Best Place to Work" by the Washington Business Journal, has an exciting Copywriter / Editor opportunity in its Washington, DC office. In this role, you will support a wide range of projects and assignments associated with U.S. and global strategic marketing and communications initiatives. The primary objective of the Marketing team is to develop and protect the brand, deliver content consistently, and effectively facilitate communications within and outside the firm in support of the firma?s business strategy. Your focus will be on copy writing and editing content in support of the Marketing functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Develop and implement communication plans to support initiatives, utilizing available communication tools * Edit and review content for use in print, video, email, and Web * Edit and review proposals Review practice-specific materials, biographies and brochures and make recommendations for improvement and consistency where applicable * Develop internal survey and focus group questions * Support firm-wide internal and external communication efforts from Marketing, Public Relations, Client Services, and other internal departments in all offices * Enforce compliance with branding and communication guidelines * Interview stakeholders or attorneys to develop or edit content when appropriate * Coordinate meetings as necessary * Perform special projects as needed, and other responsibilities as assigned Requirements Key Competencies/Traits/Skills: * Proven communication skills and exemplary command of the written English language. Writing samples will be requested. * Excellent time management and organizational skills. * Excellent writing and editing skills. * Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. * Proven project management experience. * Ability to communicate effectively with lawyers and staff. * Proactive manner and enthusiasm; ability to interface effectively and positively with varying departments and interests. You must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively with other members of the department, based in all other offices. * Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise fashion to varying stakeholders. * Ability and flexibility to be both detail and big-picture oriented. * Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required. * Experience with Social Media desired. Minimum Educational Level and/or Required Experience: * 5-7 years of supervisory experience with 7-10 years of relevant work experience. * Prefer Professional Services or Law firm Marketing experience. * Undergraduate degree Required (Prefer business or marketing background).
