The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be a member of the Manufacturing Technical organization at the Pencader site which is part of the global Vespel® network. DuPont offers five families of Vespel® Parts and Shapes that meet stringent requirements for weight reduction, long service life, chemical exposure and/or extreme temperatures. These parts and shapes, many of which are manufactured from high-performance polyimide resins, range from seal rings and couplings to engine clamps and replace metal and ceramics for lower cost of ownership and better durability. Primary markets are global aerospace, semiconductor, industrial and transportation industries, as well as in office machine and pump applications. The primary function of this position will be to provide technical leadership to the Vespel® Parts business by leading product and process improvements in Direct Form. This includes providing direct process guidance for Operations, new product optimization, new process development, marketing support, equipment specification, capital project leadership and employee training. The successful candidate will: * Identify and implement engineering solutions to improve process operations, including improvements in quality, capacity, uptime, rate, cost, safety, health, and environmental. Six Sigma methodologies will be applied whenever possible. * Conduct root cause failure analyses, as required, to address safety incidents, quality complaints or reliability incidents. * Develop and implement optimal, cost effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. * Optimize the manufacturing of newly launched or revised products. * Lead Capital projects. * Provide timely engineering leadership to Operations, which includes guidance/training and technical assistance to operators, mechanics and less experienced engineers to ensure safe and high quality production. Qualifications * BS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent disciplines. * Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical assignment. * Prior experience at a manufacturing site, preferably in a technical role. * Experience in powder handling, particulate material compaction and part processing is required. * Lean methodology and Six Sigma certification is preferred. * Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods, including process flow improvement and production equipment improvement experience. * Product development experience. * Experience with typical customer Quality System requirements (APQP, etc.). * Set-up and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment. * Capital project management experience. * Ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization. * Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. * Ability to lead change and deliver results. * Coaching and mentoring capability. * Self-motivated/self-directed. * Teamwork skills. * Ability to network. * Ability to influence and negotiate. * Strong analytical and problem solving skills. * Information system and software application proficiency required: Microsoft Office products. Additional Information: Work schedule is typically Monday through Friday. Engineer will be expected to respond to support needs outside this schedule as needed, whether for troubleshooting or planned events.
