Ability to work with diverse populations essential. Excellent organization, management and communication skills required. Flexibility and the ability to manage complex, confidential and non-routine situations is necessary. Knowledge of University student policies and procedures, student information systems and previous supervisory experience preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Dean for Student Services is a critical partner with the Dean of CEPP and is the primary leader responsible for maximizing student success through the effective delivery of student services for the approximately 1,400 undergraduate students in the College. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Assistant Dean will, along with the faculty, department chairs and school directors, use innovation and vision to lead the college now and into the future by developing and promoting initiatives, opportunities and strategies that will continue to produce graduates who are leaders in many fields. The Assistant Dean is responsible for the coordination of undergraduate student advisement functions within the schools and departments of the college. These functions includes: articulating the advisement and student success philosophy; training and informational support of advisors; meeting with students experiencing academic difficulty and referring them to appropriate university support services; leading the CEPP Student Services Council; reviewing special requests and authorizing exceptions and excused absences; and assisting departments in maintaining accurate records of student degree progress. Additional specific functions include: working with student leaders and all students individually and collectively on activities and undertakings that ensure their success at the University; assisting students and parents in navigating university systems, interpreting policy, and resolving concerns; representing the Dean and the college to students, parents, and the general public at college and university events; serving as college liaison with other university offices, committees and the Assistant Deans? council; working with the Deans office to monitor admission, course scheduling, and registration controls and making recommendations for changes in policy related to these areas; and coordinating the colleges participation in a number of recruitment, orientation, recognition, development and convocation events throughout the year.
