DEADLINE: November 16, 2009 The Office of Economic Innovation and Partnerships was established in July 2008 with the goal of building the Universitys knowledge based assets and deploying these assets through partnerships for the benefit of the University, the community, the State, region and nation. Under the limited direction of the Director, the Business Development Analyst works with the Director and other senior administrators to develop partnerships with external corporations, public, quasi-public and federal entities in order to enhance the Universitys ability to promote the growth and development of its research, education intellectual property (IP) and human capital. QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree in public policy, public administration, business, or related discipline and four years of experience. Experience in business development, including the development, preparation, negotiation, review, and execution of a wide range of business contracts; in depth knowledge and consistent application of research and business ethics. Experience with the U.S. Army or government agencies is desirable. Requires the ability to coordinate multiple complex projects, work both independently and collaboratively to formulate and implement policy and program changes. Effective communication (verbal and written), editorial, presentation and interpersonal skills. Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively summarize and present information. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and management skills. Knowledge and appreciation of business concepts and requirements as applicable to a large academic, research institution. Consultative and advisory skills. Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools. Ability to work and communicate effectively within a diverse community including management, peers, academics, and other professionals, including external agencies, with varied interests and perspectives. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Business Development Analyst develops strategies to attract high-value partners to enter relationships with the University. Manages the initial phase of identifying and developing partner relationships with high-valued entities e.g. the Army, SAIC, DuPont, small start up companies etc. and where appropriate, transition the primary responsibility for management of the relationship from OEIP to a long term University owner? of the relationship. The Business Develop Analyst will also develop and manage the partnerships emerging from the partnerships with the U.S. Army at the Aberdeen Proving Ground; coordinate the timing and quality of deliverables between one or more units at APG and one or more units at UD where one or more agendas and goals are involved. The Business Develop Analyst is responsible for developing and managing a communication plan (press releases, articles, reports, events) to educate, inform and influence key stakeholders on the benefits and opportunities resulting from OEIP initiatives and partnerships.
