Prepared Foods Cook

Position Overview:

As a Prepared Foods Cook you will perform all functions relating to the maintenance and proper food preparation of the hot case, cold case, fresh pack, and salad bar. Additionally you will maintain attractive Prepared Foods displays and support the regional Prepared Foods vision. You will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Duties:

1. Make sure the customers are being taken care of and the department looks great at all times. Surprise and delight the customers with consistent, delightful service. 2. Performs all duties of a Production Team Member. 3. Ensure that food quality, quantity, freshness, and presentation meet all Regional standards. 4. Assist with production for all Prepared Foods venues. 5. Ensure all prepared items are labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated. 6. Document waste and spoilage using appropriate forms, and meet all spoilage targets. 7. Support national, regional, and store programs. 8. Follows and complies with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adheres to safe work practices. 9. Responds promptly to customer needs and questions and requests assistance when necessary, including answering the store phone system. 10. Use correct measuring devices, and follow recipes. 11. Maintain all safety and sanitation standards. 12. Ensure that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and organized. 13. Understand why our products are different than conventional stores, and be able to explain to customers. 14. Communicate team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader. 15. Performs other duties as assigned by the Prepared Foods Team Leader (Department Manager), Associate Team Leader (Assistant Department Manager), or Supervisor.

Requirements:

1. Ability to follow instructions and established procedures. 2. Ability to successfully delegate production tasks. 3. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. 4. The ability to work in a fast paced environment, with a sense of urgency. 5. Basic knowledge of ingredient information and nutri-facts for Prepared Foods products. 6. Ability to evaluate all products offered in the department. 7. Knowledgeably communicate the product line to the customer. 8. Ability to understand and complete departmental transfers. 9. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members. 10. Ability to perform physical requirements of position. 11. Ability to operate all necessary equipment. 12. Strong organizational skills; basic computer skills. 13. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as required. 14. Able to prioritize efficiently and delegate responsibilities. 15. Stand and walk for extended periods of time. 16. Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. 17. Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds, unassisted and able to push and pull carts with product weighing up to 100 pounds. 18. Use of box cutters.
