Job Description Under direct delegation from the Executive Director, Ethics & Compliance, and the Director, Regulatory Compliance, the Associate Director/Director, Compliance Auditing is responsible for the development and implementation of compliance audit strategies for NPC. This individual will perform and manage complex compliance audits and monitoring to ensure compliance with applicable pharmaceutical related laws and regulations directly applicable to NPC. This person is responsible for working on/authoring a compliance audit risk assessment plan (Plan) annually and taking action to ensure that appropriate audit work is completed pursuant to that Plan, including coordinating auditing action with other departments within NPC. As part of said Plan, the individual also will support/assist in corrective training, drafting/revising policies and/or other tasks to remedy issues uncovered. Primary responsibilities include 1. Conducting field-based compliance audits pursuant to said Plan and as directed a. Provide quarterly reports to the Executive Director, Ethics and Compliance and Compliance Officer 2. Analyze data from Concerto for compliance issues related to said Plan and as directed 3. Develop the (compliance audit risk assessment) Plan in conjunction with the Compliance Officer, Executive Director, Ethics and Compliance and director, Regulatory Compliance a. Said Plan must ensure all appropriate areas of Companys business are covered b. Said Plan consists of a risk assessment of NPC operations and internal controls as they relate to compliance with internal guidelines, SOPs and processes. c. The Plan will consist of both a one year (short term) and three year (long term) Plan. i. Responsible for designing and performing or coordinating monitoring of certain activities as identified as appropriate for monitoring based on the risk assessment or factors. ii. Said Plan will contain a methodology for continuous auditing/monitoring to proactively recognize potential exposure to fraud and/or non compliance with internal guidelines, SOPs and processes. Utilization of audit software (such as ACL) and analysis (such as Benfords Law) to detect outliers and perform the follow-up steps as necessary 4. Coordinate with other NPC departments responsible for audits including corporate internal audit to refine said Plan a. During the risk assessment stage, must coordinate with Directors or other senior managers of key areas to get their perspective on operations to perform initial assessment of compliance risks within individual functional areas and to perform said audits. 5. Implement the Plan in conjunction with the departments, vendors, suppliers, agents and others as applicable a. Schedule said audits on a regular cyclical basis b. Perform said internal audit tasks, including planning, design and preparation i. Management of the individual audits within the Plan shall include the effective planning of the audit; communication of audit objectives and scope to management of the group/section/function being audited; obtaining and testing of sufficient, competent evidential documentation/matter; evaluating audit test results; identifying internal control weaknesses and discussing situations, risks, and remediation plans with management; issuing formal audit reports upon completion of the audit; and performing follow-up to ensure corrective action was adequately performed by management within the established timeframe for action. c. Major responsibilities include preparation of work papers, reporting and verifying the accuracy of Companys records and control systems d. Assist in training and creating training materials related to remedying violations found and filling gaps in learning and know-how to create a complete compliance program Remain current with developments in auditing procedures; and changes in local, state and federal laws as applicable.
