Description NGIS - Health IT- Human Services seeks an Oracle DBA for a program that provides large scale development, testing, deployment and Maintenance & Support of SACWIS (Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information Systems. The location is Washington DC. The candidate must possess experience in Oracle 10g Real Application Clusters (RAC). Candidates for this position should have a good understanding of database concepts and technologies as well as data modelling and schema design. They should have significant experience with administering Oracle 10G database instances and Oracle 10G RAC. Responsibilities include: Install and configure new databases; provide technical and operational administration and support for development, test and production databases; work with the development team to model information, design schemas and optimize queries. Participate as a member of the systems engineering team for database-related tasks. Design, test, and implement backup procedures and Oracle high availability solutions. Maintain effective database performance monitoring procedures. Perform database tuning for optimal performance to meet Business SLAs. Control and monitor user access to databases and maintain database security. Allocate storage and develop plans for future storage requirements. Maintain documentation of systems and standard operating policies and procedures. Provide ad hoc Scripting support to the project. The Database Administrator shall be able to install, maintain, and upgrade Oracle databases, tools, and related products, troubleshoot RDBMS and Applications problems, and shall assist in the design and development of new processes and technologies. Additional abilities include ongoing tuning and system performance optimization as well as backup/recovery expertise. Requirements: Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent degree and a minimum of six years of experience; additional years of experience may substitute in lieu of degree, specialized experience in Oracle database administration and general experience on a multi-server local area network. Must have working knowledge of Oracle 10g installation, configuration, and management of multiple environments, Oracle 10g RAC, SQL, and PL/SQL on Unix. Strong understanding of advanced database concepts and infrastructures; data modelling and schema design.
