Technical Editor

The Editor is co-located with a team of editors and graphic artists to create finished Intelligence products, and is expected to perform the following job requirements: -Work with Government customer in a production support branch assisting in the production and dissemination of finished intelligence products. - Edit documents and manage the production of Intelligence Analysis Cables, Intelligence Briefs, Intelligence Reports, Baselines, briefing materials and visual aids, and other products, as required. - Ensure classification markings provided by customers are appropriate and properly applied. - Conduct final reviews of text, graphics, and other formats for intelligence products. - Coordinate and disseminate finished intelligence products as required. All work shall be tracked and completed within established timelines. - Provide quality control in accordance with Government policy and standards for intelligence products. - Attend regularly scheduled production support meetings and stay current with ongoing production support initiatives. - Generate, format, and release electronic reports using a variety of computer systems and applications.  - Review intelligence products to ensure consistency with standards and guidelines for reporting, classification, and releasability. - Enter appropriate codes, identifiers, and keywords into the appropriate archival databases. - Formulate simple queries for relevant databases. - Verify that documents and products are appropriately classified - Produce publications in accordance standards, style guidance and publication policies. - Provide advice and/or edit documents for logic, clarity, comprehensiveness, relevance and organization, format, flow, grammar, punctuation, and spelling for compliance with Government agency standards, style guidance, and publication policies. - Record changes in hardcopy and softcopy and, when necessary, communicate changes to customers by using online editing functions. - Perform daily production quality control procedures. - Resolve work-related technical problems. Required Strong computer skills and demonstrated proficiency on PC platforms. Working expertise in using Microsoft Office Suite. Working expertise with electronic publishing software such as QuarkXpress Adobe In design, and Adobe FrameMaker. Working expertise with structured authoring software (SGML, XML, HTML) and expert ability to format documents using such software. Demonstrated aptitude in working with current, industry-standard electronic publishing computer systems, applications and databases. Demonstrated proficiency with the following applications: QuarkXpress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Outlook. Working knowledge of Worldwide Web and multimedia technologies.

14+ Years with HS or 10+ Years with AA or 8+ Years with BS or 6+ Years with MS or 3+ Years with PhD Strong presentation and interpersonal skills. Excellent writing skills. Familiarity with basic print-based and web-based design principles.
