Headquartered in Reston, Va., RTSC operates in 50 states, 34 countries, and all seven continents. RTSC is currently seeking a Sr Field Engineer I to support the U. S. Army from Ft. Drum, NY. You will provide Improved Target Acquisition System (ITAS) technical support and have direct interface with the external customer. You will deploy with various units to various locations, both CONUS and OCONUS, including combat zones. Duties are to troubleshoot system problems and oversee necessary repairs under general direction and coordination from the home office. In addition, you are responsible to manage the planning, scheduling and conducting of all tasks necessary for day-to-day operation of field site facility. You will provide guidance and training to customer personnel in establishing operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures and techniques. You will analyze equipment failures to determine cause and recommend corrective action, advise and assist in effecting design changes to improve equipment efficiency and/or reduce cost of operation, devise and implement preventive maintenance programs, oversees retention of performance and maintenance records on equipment and participate in the installation planning phase. You will also be responsible and oversee the installation, check out, operation, maintaining, repair, and modification of equipment. Employment is contingent upon meeting all medical requirements for overseas assignment including comprehensive post-offer medical examination and having the ability of obtaining a military Interim Secret Security Clearance within 60 days of offer. Required Skills and Experience: * At least four years experience in the U.S. Army with basic electronic skills. * Must be experienced and familiar with the tools and test equipment commonly used in electronic installation, maintenance, and test. * Must be a self-starter and have the ability to align priorities appropriately and work with little or no supervision. * Must possess excellent technical writing, oral communication, and negotiation skills. Some relocation benefits may be available. Desired Skills: * Experience with maintaining and using the Improved Target Acquisition System (ITAS) or similar Infrared electro-optical weapons system. Active duty military experience is a plus. Security Clearance Requirements: Must have ability to obtain a military Interim Secret Security Clearance within 60 days of offer. Required Education (including major): Bachelors Degree in related engineering field and/or a minimum 12 years experience, or a combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree. Special Work Circumstances: * Extensive travel will be required; up to 100% to include Iraq, Afghanistan, and other international destinations. * Must be able to deploy to remote international locations with little notification. * Must be willing and able to deploy to environments that may include harsh living conditions (extreme heat and cold, deployed living conditions, etc) and/or hostile work environment * Must be able to move and/or lift weights such as test equipment, ladders, tools, and cable reels weighing up to 60 pounds using proper lifting techniques or material moving equipment * Must be able to work 12-16 hours a day and be on call 24/7.
