In conjunction with the CW Bill Young Donor Marrow Center, the duties of this position include basic and specialized molecular biology techniques, including PCR, sequencing, cloning and plasmid DNA isolation. Incumbent will verify assignment of HLA alleles, and identify HLA with molecular biology. Strong computer skills are required for sequence analysis using analysis software. Incumbent will also maintain supply inventory and stocks of re-agents. The Technician is required to comply will all requirements necessary to meet laboratory, ASHI and HIPPA standards. Incumbent works with the laboratory staff, Associate Director, and other center staff. Bachelors degree with 2-3 years of progressive responsibilities in a histocompatibility testing laboratory performing molecular HLA class I genes testing for clinical, donor registry, and research specimens. Position requires three years of intensive management responsibilities in HLA class I genes testing and research. Position also requires proficient computer skills to include use of spreadsheet program to generate spreadsheets, manipulate to perform basic mathematical calculations and generations of graphs and tables from spreadsheets.
