Principal Planner

Job Description :

* He/she will have responsibility for management and technical production of urban planning and urban design projects. * Typical projects may include corridor, transit, urban design and sector plans; and urban realm design projects, context sensitive design, and revitalization projects for public sector clients. * Individual will lead projects as well as coordinate the efforts of project managers, technical staff, design and planning professions, and other disciplines on multiple, large-scale and complex projects. * The Urban Planning Principal will also have responsibility for winning new work and for new business development and therefore must have a strong business development track record and knowledge of market opportunities in the DC area and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. * In addition he/she will have management responsibilities and will coordinate with the group and office leaders regarding marketing budgets, goal setting, staffing, recruiting, and project coordination. * A high level of client interaction is expected.

Qualifications * Bachelors degree in Planning or related field plus 12 or more years of experience on major urban design and planning assignments coupled with marketing prowess to lead projects and business development initiatives. * LEED Accredited Professional and AICP are desirable. * Strong graphics, written and oral communication, mentoring, and teamwork skills required. * Individual must enjoy working in an exciting and diverse environment, think creatively, and juggle concurrent projects.
