Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials. Develops outlines of EOD procedures from field evaluation and available ordnance data. Converts outlines into standardized EOD render safe procedures. Writes heavily formatted publications for Automated Explosive Ordnance Disposal Publications System (AEODPS). Writes original text and draws from existing documentation to craft publications. Refers to illustrations for data and incorporates illustrations in documents when appropriate. Edits the work of others Must be a graduate of navy or surface EOD basic school. Applicants selected for this position will require background screening and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Applicants selected for a security clearance will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirement for access to classified information.
