The Manager, Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for ensuring that Veeco buildings and building-related equipment, machinery and systems comply with all relevant regulations and that Veeco employees are trained in and comply with such regulations to ensure their safety while working in Company facilities and/or with Company equipment. The manager will directly oversee the duties and responsibilities of the facility where located and will manage and provide direction and guidance to other Veeco locations through local on-site facility staff or service providers. This position will frequently travel to other Veeco locations to ensure compliance with appropriate programs and regulations. Minimum Qualifications: * B.S. in Environmental Engineering or a related field with equivalent experience. Experience: Minimum 10 years experience in EH&S in a complex global manufacturing environment, related building systems, clean rooms and overall facility operations. Knowledgeable in related safety regulations. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Manages the environmental, industrial, health and safety regulation compliance for all U.S. Veeco locations. Responsible for the overall preventive, corrective, routine and emergency maintenance of Veeco buildings and equipment/systems including HVAC, fire detection and suppression and hazardous production materials (including gases and gas distribution and storage equipment). Engages and manages subcontractors and service providers as needed, ensuring that business disruptions are minimized. 2. Ensure that all facilities are operated in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. Provide guidance and direction for facility management regarding compliance with governmental environmental, health and safety regulations. Lead compliance EH&S audits of facilities. Implement and maintain effective EH&S management programs through innovative processes, technologies, procedures and internal controls consistent with Corporate Policies and governmental regulations. Interact with insurance and regulatory representatives to ensure compliance with requirements. Ensure the proper installation, operation and maintenance of facility EH&S systems. 3. Develops, plans and implements corporate level EH&S policies and procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness and injury prevention, and building safety) to ensure uniform procedures are used at all Veeco locations. 4. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations pertaining to environmental safety and handles all contact with appropriate agencies. 5. Oversees licensed hazardous waste disposal and monitors waste handling. 6. Acts as the lead on due diligence matters relating to potential acquisition target facilities. Develop EH&S program gap analysis and integration plans. Lead efforts to bring successful acquisitions into compliance with Company EH&S standards. 7. Develops and oversees company wide training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, lab/plant inspection, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene and life safety. 8. Serves as the point of contact for emergency personnel and manage workers compensation program administration. 9. Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist. 10. Recruits, selects and trains Veeco employees as needed at each facility to ensure the efficient operation of the function Required Knowledge and Experience: 1. Familiarity with various regulating authorities OSHA (Cal-OSHA), DEP, DLI, EPA, DOT, NEC, ANSI, and NFPA/UFC. 2. Experience with Program Development / Implementation, Inspections (Audits), accident investigation and closure, Lockout/Tagout, training and reporting. 3. Familiar with specific requirements regarding Fork & Scissor lifts, MSDS Program requirements, Material handling Safety Overhead hoist and Fall protection, Job Hazard / Safety Analysis (JHA / JSA), Ergonomics and HazComm. 4. Excellent presentation skills, team development, leadership and organizing. Excellent MS Office skills and other related business software applications.
