Description: - Environmental Technician (0901582) Job Description Environmental Technician-0901582 Description This fast paced position is for day to day management of environmental affairs at two operating power plants (Bayswater / Jamaica Bay Peaking Facilities) located in Far Rockaway, New York (near JFK Airport). Position requires managing emissions monitoring systems (CEMS), waste management tracking and reporting, managing spill response plans and training, and developing routine reports for air, water, waste and wastewater permits. Other responsibilities include managing environmental compliance through compliance databases, procedure development, record keeping, reporting and training of on-site staff in environmental compliance. Candidate should have working knowledge of the following regulations: * Clean Air Act (Federal and New York State) * Clean Water Act, SARA Title III * Petroleum Bulk Storage regulations The ideal candidate should have demonstrated environmental management experience and have working knowledge of compliance programs in New York. Additional experience with New Jersey compliance programs would be helpful. Also, must be well versed in the use of computer databases and the internet. The selected candidate will report to Plant Management, as well as to Regional Environmental Leads. Other responsibilities will include tracking and reporting environmental compliance, budgeting and safety training. This position may require occasional overtime, holiday, weekend work and occasional travel. Position may be filled at a lower level based on the skills and experience of the most qualified candidate. Qualifications Bachelors of Science Degree and/or 1-2 years of relevant work experience.
