This position supports the teaching, learning, and research of Georgetown University faculty, students, and staff by: * coordinating all Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services for the Main Campus Libraries, so that requests by the Georgetown community for material not owned by Georgetown are filled, and requests from external institutions for Georgetown material are filled; * ensuring that ILL requests are reviewed and accurately filled in a timely manner; * communicating with faculty, students, and staff on the status of ILL requests, and with consortial partners and other colleagues regarding ILL standards, policies, prices, and services; * training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating approximately 2 FTE student assistants; * training and supervising the work of the Access Specialists and other departmental staff, as needed during peak times (approximately 1-1.5 FTE); * making recommendations to the Department Head on seasonal staffing levels; * processing ILL lending and borrowing requests; * providing supervision and assistance at the Circulation/Reserve Desk approximately 4 hours per week; * and assisting in Reserve and the Stacks when needed and possible. Minimum requirements:Bachelors Degree required. Two years library experience; familiarity with the role of academic libraries meeting the information needs of students, faculty, and staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong public service orientation, and demonstrated successful experience working with the public and supervising students and staff. Demonstrated ability to make consistently good decisions when interpreting policies and explaining procedures, as well as the ability to work with little supervision. Other skills include: attention to detail; ability to organize, meet deadlines, and manage complex processes; flexibility; ability to work as part of a team in a complex, changing environment; ability to be diplomatic and negotiate disputes, and communicate effectively with supervisees, faculty, and ILL practitioners at other institutions. Familiarity with Windows desktop, word processing, and e-mail software required; integrated library management systems, OCLC Passport and Micro Enhancer, RLGs Ariel, ILLiad, bibliographic databases, spreadsheets, and Internet resources and tools desired.
