This position provides developmentally appropriate care and early education to children of Staff, Faculty, and Students of the University by creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children; conducting programs and activities that implement the emergent curriculum of the classroom; developing and maintaining mutually supportive relationships with individual parents that enable both parents and teachers to meet each childs individual needs; monitoring and supporting each childs individual development and maintaining overall responsibility for classroom functioning. Minimum requirements include Bachelors degree in Early Childhood education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Special Ed, or the equivalent Three years related experience in ECE or related field, or the equivalent in education and experience per NAEYC standards. Must have strong relationship and communication skills. Computer experience to include word processing, PowerPoint, email, use of digital photography, internet research. Experience working in a high quality early childhood program. First Aid and CPR certification are desired. Candidates should have the ability to work well in a team as well as independently, communicate effectively and respectfully to children, families and colleagues, build positive relationships with all members of the GU community, demonstrate initiative to solve problems creatively, and show flexibility and open mindedness.
