We are seeking an individual to carry out research in image-guided interventional procedures with a multi-disciplinary and multi-site team in Philips Research. Key areas of research will be the following: ? Investigation of workflow improvements in the field of interventional oncology, cardiology or surgery ? Development and optimization of imaging & tracking technology to ensure accurate placement of focal biopsy and therapy devices. Your Profile: We require the following credentials for this position: ? PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Biomedical Engineering ? Experience in image processing of 2-D and 3-D medical images with an emphasis on registration and segmentation. ? Experience with imaging modalities with an emphasis on CT, X-ray, and ultrasound We desire the following credentials for the position: ? Working knowledge of lung diagnostic biopsy and treatment is desired ? Knowledge in computer vision is desired ? Experience with motion compensation from medical images is desired ? Specific desired skill sets include software development with emphasis on C++ development and image processing libraries such as ITK/VTK and OpenCV The Research Scientist will conduct research in the area of guided interventions for lung cancer treatment & biopsy. The candidate must have experience with medical imaging technologies with an emphasis on X-ray, CT, and ultrasound technologies. The candidate will have experience integrating information in the interventional suite with a strong demonstrated understanding of clinical problems and a solid example of providing a creative solution to a specific clinical problem. The candidate will have experience in image processing techniques in 2-D and 3-D medical images with an emphasis on registration and segmentation techniques. The candidate should have capabilities to apply these skills in a real-time environment with associated algorithm optimizations. Beyond the experience in imaging technologies, it would be desirable for the candidate to have practical hands-on experience with electromagnetic tracking or other external tracking technologies. Specific desired skill sets include software development with emphasis on C# or C++ development, Matlab prototyping, ITK/VTK, and OpenCV. Experience level for the candidate include at least 2+ years working in a clinical environment either during doctoral training or in post-doctoral employment. In addition, the ideal candidate will have the desire and ability to integrate with a multidisciplinary and multi-site team. We require strong communication skills in written and verbal English with experience giving formal presentations, professional publication record, and grant writing.
