JOB DESCRIPTION: The Project Manager has overall responsibility for successful delivery of the assigned program(s). A Project Manager is responsible for large, complex, high risk programs, $8M - $40M. Although the PM does not have direct reports, s/he is a functional manager for the project team of 40+ people. S/he follows HPs Global Method. Will build and maintain relationships with client senior executives. In this entirely Onsite customer-facing role, you will help customers to define and implement complex integrated solutions that optimize their technology to support and grow their business. By assessing and understanding current and future technical and business needs, youll build and present demonstrably best value hp solutions and partnering services, working hand in hand with our sales force and other specialists. Having made the convincing case, youll then have overall authority for the costing, scheduling, planning & tracking, terms & conditions and risk management of the project through its entire life cycle, delivering profit and total customer satisfaction. As a leader in the application of standard project management technology and tools, you will also coach, counsel, mentor and motivate junior project managers. These duties will include the following: * Manages activities of individual contributors and/or level 1 managers with accountability for a large multi-department area(s) or location(s) with significant impact on business unit results and organizational strategy. * Applies expert subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving most complex business/technical issues within established policies. * Acts as a key advisor to senior management on the development of overall policies and long-term goals of the organization. * Plans, directs, and monitors highend operational/tactical activities of Staff (10 or more). Staff members primary focus is on either high-end tactical or broad strategic issues or a combination of both. * Recruits and supports development of direct staff members. U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE NEEDED: Top Secret Qualifications Bachelors (undergraduate) or Masters (graduate) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, MIS Industrial Engineering or industry related discipline At least 3 years managing programs within the Federal Agencies. At least 5-7years project management experience. PMP certification is a real plus Technology knowledge: networking systems and solutions, Telecommunications knowledge preferably with Cisco gear, Avaya voice products Project management skills; Demonstrated leadership abilities Leadership skills and proactive approach Ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision or guidance from others Broad knowledge of computer technology and future trends In-depth knowledge of project management methodology including commercial, technical and legal issues Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills Mentoring and coaching ability Interpersonal sensitivity and responsiveness to customers.
