Description Title: Scientist I Location: MD, Gaithersburg - Corporate Headquarters Req: 02071 Major Duties and Responsibilities (including supervising others): We are seeking a Virologist with strong laboratory and experimental design skills. A candidate for this position should be proficient in the propagation, quantitation, and characterization of virus from cell culture systems. The candidate will be required to develop PCR based assays to detect the presence of viral genomes and viral transcripts in cell culture samples and animal tissue homogenates. The candidate must be familiar with various methods for detecting and quantifying proteins: ELISA, immunohistochemistry, FACS, Western blotting and immunoprecipitation. The candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to make effective presentations and demonstrate critical analyses of data sets. Position Requirements Special Skills/Abilities: ? Highly motivated, innovative, creative, organized and able to independently perform and plan experiments ? Strong communication skills ? Strong interpersonal skills to work in a team-orientated environment Job Complexity: Candidates should be able to manage and prioritize a number of different project responsibilities within the scope of the project. It is anticipated that the scope of responsibility for this individual will increase over time.
