FINANCIAL AID COUNSELOR

Department: Financial Aid Duties: Provides financial aid services to undergraduate students as assigned; reviews financial aid applications; counsels on all matters concerning availability of financial aid, eligibility, procedural steps, alternatives, budgets, resources and problem resolution; determines eligibility; performs need analyses; prepares appropriate correspondence and reports; provides information to students and parents; conducts workshops; participates in professional development activities to keep abreast of financial aid regulations; serves as a member of the Financial Aid Policy Committee, the Financial Aid Scholarship Committee and the Financial Aid Appeals Committee; represents the office on financial aid matters at secondary schools, other institutions of higher education, orientations, recruitment programs of the university, and at outside organizations and agencies; performs other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Business Management or a related field. One year of relevant work experience, preferably in a collegiate environment, performing student related duties, such as, financial aid, student affairs, admissions, or counseling. Requirements: Knowledge of Microsoft office computer software; skill in word processing software; ability to coordinate work with personnel of other departments; ability to provide advice and guidance; ability to communicate effectively; ability to supervise. Preferred: Experience with Ed Express, COD, NSLDS, and Banner processing software.
