The Backup Administrator / ITDR Specialist is responsible for the administration, monitoring, maintenance, operation and support of the Peace Corps domestic backup systems: Commvault Simpana (Headquarters) and Backup Exec (Domestic Regional Offices). Additionally, this position is accountable for developing and maintaining Peace Corps? Information Technology Disaster Recovery (ITDR) plans, Business Impact Analysis (BIA), IT Disaster Recovery functional and integrated testing, and supporting Peace Corps? Business Continuity needs. The Peace Corps? current ITDR plans leverage Storage Replication (NetApp), Virtualization (VMWare) and related technologies to help ensure the Agencys continuity objectives are met. As a technical expert on the agencys infrastructure team, the incumbent will also be responsible for identifying and evaluating areas for future improvements and for infrastructure project planning and monitoring. DUTIES: Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains hardware and software to ensure the availability and functionality of the systems. Recovers data in the event of hardware or software failure. Reviews current literature, research, or professional studies to determine state-of-the-art methods and techniques for ITDR (Information Technology Disaster Recovery) program implementation. Designs program requirements that accommodate the agency priorities or emphasis and meet current recognized standards for the program, profession, or industry. Manages the lifecycle of an information technology project from concept development through implementation. Identifies customer requirements, develops technical approaches, and coordinates project resources related to project costs and schedules. Researches and/or analyzes information technology (IT) problems, issues, or program requirements relative to promoting products and services to agency mission area programs. Plans, designs, and develops test methods, procedures, techniques, and requirements for computer systems. Reviews, analyzes, evaluates, and improves hardware, software, systems, and/or equipment testing methods, concepts, techniques, and operations. Participates in the test and evaluation of contractors equipment, components, systems, or products. Develops new technologies, such as computer simulations, for innovative testing of design concepts, applications, and systems. Develops and implements test technologies to address the design, development, verification, and operation needs of software, systems or hardware. Administers (i.e., profiles, schedules, facilitates, etc.) ITDR exercises to evaluate program effectiveness.
