Actuarial Trainee

Posted:  November 16, 2009

Chubb is a leader in the global insurance marketplace. Traditional values ? such as honesty, fairness, and uncompromising integrity - are every bit as important to us as innovative ideas and strong business results. Chubb has earned a reputation over the years for financial strength, for innovative products and services, and for exemplary claim-handling ability - all qualities that our 10,000 employees worldwide have helped shape and perpetuate. Chubb has enjoyed a phenomenal track record of growth since we opened for business more than a century ago. Today, with combined assets of $50 billion, we are one of the largest publicly held insurers in the United States and worldwide. We serve customers throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Rim - and we continue to grow. We aim to be the insurer of choice for agents, brokers, and their clients in every major world market. Our people are the key to this vision and to all our plans for the future. Thats why we insist on hiring the very best from around the globe.

Our Actuarial Department is looking for individuals who can effectively work in a team, are intelligent risk-takers and sophisticated communicators, and enjoy coming up with creative solutions to problems. These are the people who will contribute to the companys results and help shape our future. Those who join us will discover that corporate and personal growth go hand in hand at Chubb. Whether you• re a recent college graduate or a seasoned professional, we think you• ll agree that Chubb invests in the future - yours and ours.

As a member of Chubbs Actuarial Team, you will help evaluate business opportunities in a given market by collecting data to identify the potential profitability and possible pitfalls. Typically, the team will base its analysis on the demand the business may create, the price required to deliver a reasonable rate of return, and the potential effect of claims on the companys profitability. Armed with this data, our actuaries advise top management on ways to balance the anticipated with the unexpected. As your actuarial career progresses at Chubb, you will also work on projects that include extensive statistical analysis, pricing, loss reserving, research, planning and forecasting and risk analysis.

The Actuarial Student Program combines on-the-job training with seminars and formal training, rotational opportunity, and time off to study for the Casualty Actuarial Societys (CAS) series of professional examinations.

Thirty five percent of the Actuarial members have completed all nine CAS examinations and have earned the designation of Fellow. Another eight percent have passed the first seven CAS examinations and have earned the designation of Associate.

Qualified candidates must have a strong mathematical and analytical background. The individual must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to manage time effectively in order to meet scheduled due dates. Proficiency in Excel and Access is a plus.

Actuarial Exam preferred.

Candidates should possess a Math, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or Actuarial Sciences degree with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

Chubb believes that a never-ending effort to strengthen the • culture of inclusion? makes the company stronger and provides more opportunities for employees from all backgrounds to thrive in their careers. Our openness to diverse viewpoints contributes significantly to better thought processes, better solutions, and better results.
