As a member of Chubbs Actuarial Team, you will help evaluate business opportunities in a given market by collecting data to identify the potential profitability and possible pitfalls. Typically, the team will base its analysis on the demand the business may create, the price required to deliver a reasonable rate of return, and the potential effect of claims on the companys profitability. Armed with this data, our actuaries advise top management on ways to balance the anticipated with the unexpected. As your actuarial career progresses at Chubb, you will also work on projects that include extensive statistical analysis, pricing, loss reserving, research, planning and forecasting and risk analysis. The Actuarial Student Program combines on-the-job training with seminars and formal training, rotational opportunity, and time off to study for the Casualty Actuarial Societys (CAS) series of professional examinations. Thirty five percent of the Actuarial members have completed all nine CAS examinations and have earned the designation of Fellow. Another eight percent have passed the first seven CAS examinations and have earned the designation of Associate. Qualified candidates must have a strong mathematical and analytical background. The individual must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to manage time effectively in order to meet scheduled due dates. Proficiency in Excel and Access is a plus. Actuarial Exam preferred. Candidates should possess a Math, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or Actuarial Sciences degree with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
