For more information, visit http://www.standardandpoors.com Standard & Poors is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst to provide a full range of financial planning analysis including: situational analysis, market share/volume, product revenue, competitive analysis, and key economic data in order to provide overall direction to the business units to assist in the development of effective business unit plans and strategies. The responsibilities also include: * Support the financial process, including the preparation of monthly close reporting, monthly estimate projections, the annual Medium Range Plan, monthly financial dashboard, and quarterly reporting activities such as the preparation of answers to analyst questions, auditor financial package, and price/volume reporting. * Review financial and operational business unit plans during the annual MRP process and ensure their timely completion. Analyze submission on a regional and business unit basis and provide insightful comments and observations to management. Assist in the development of presentations of the Financial Plan for senior management and other special projects for S&P. * Help to establish best practice procedures for efficiently gathering data and effectively analyzing information with the intent of providing more value-added reporting to Senior Management. * Work as a liaison with the business units to help develop a strong partnership between the segment, regions, and US-based financial teams. * Assist in the corporate statutory reporting SOX documentation for the Financial Services segment, including helping to assess key controls, the adequacy of documentation, and identify risks to the business operations. Qualifications * Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience; MBA is highly desirable * A minimum of 5+ years of experience in financial analysis and accounting * Excellent communication skills are essential, with strong verbal and writing proficiencies * CPA preferred; knowledge of the financial services market is a plus * Effective negotiating skill set in order to successfully collaborate with multiple business units and regions * Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities, many projects are time-critical with short lead-time for completion Job Accounting/Finance Primary Location US-NY-New York Organization S&P Segment Finance Schedule Full-time EEO We are an equal opportunity employer.
