Senior Energy Systems Analyst

Responsibilities The primary responsibility of the Senior Energy Systems Analyst will be to assist the Deputy Director in supporting the activities of the Pace Energy and Climate Center in its role as co-director of the Northeast Clean Energy Application Center (NE-CEAC). (The other co-director of NE-CEAC is the Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (CEERE) at the University of Massachusetts.) Pace and CEERE were selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to operate NE-CEAC, which will focus its activities on the development of Combined Heat and Power (CHP), District Energy Systems (DES), Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) systems and other Clean Energy Technologies (CETs). NE-CEAC serves the seven state Northeast region comprising the states of New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. The responsibilities of the Senior Energy Systems Analyst include the following: ? Conduct research, analyze information, develop databases and models as required, and prepare final reports and other contracted project deliverables in fulfillment of the Centers contracted research obligations; ? Manage the administrative details of contract execution, as for example organizing and participating in project team meetings, workshops, conferences and preparing monthly reports to the client; ? Coordinate the work product of project sub-contractors, Pace Staff and, if applicable, Pace Law School student interns; ? Manage existing contracted research projects in the area of energy policy analysis; ? Insure that contracted deliverables are completed in a timely manner; and ? Upon request, serve as the liaison between the award grantor or their agents and the Center. In addition, the Senior Energy Systems Analyst will be expected to devote significant effort to identifying and responding to future contract research opportunities. These duties involve the following: ? Assist in preparation of responses to requests for proposals (RFPs), program opportunity notices, solicitations for contract research, etc., with local, state, federal, private and not-for-profit entities in the area of energy policy and environmental analysis; and ? Identify new funding opportunities for the Center that will permit it to capitalize on existing strengths or to expand its base into research areas where the organization could reasonably compete for contract research.    Position Qualifications:  A qualified candidate for Senior Energy Systems Analyst will have the following educational background and work experience: ? A Masters Degree or higher in a field relevant to the conduct of advanced level research and analysis in the area of energy generation, energy end use, environmental impacts and analysis, or public policy research and analysis. ? At least 5 years of progressively more senior level participation in contract research examining policy or regulatory issues pertaining to energy generation, energy end use or environmental policy analysis pertaining to the generation and use of energy. ? Demonstrated experience participating in regulatory processes in energy policy decision making, such as a utility rate case, a proceeding of an energy or environmental regulatory body, or similar experience in a formal policy setting. ? Knowledge of the operation of energy markets and an understanding of energy economics. ? Proficiency in the use of computer software applications such as MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access) and similar is highly desirable. Experience in building and executing models in Excel or similar analytical software utilities is a significant plus. ? Demonstrated writing and research skills. ? Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. ? Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
