Post Doc - Computational Plasma Physics GroupPosted: November 5, 2009
The CPPG Post Doc will develop new software and improve existing software for reconstructing 3D experimental plasma equilibria, given diagnostic data from fusion experiments. Reconstructing the plasma equilibrium is a key step in the analysis of experimental data. The emphasis will be on dealing with computational issues, and no specialized physics background will be needed. The required tasks include developing an automated interface between existing codes, improvement in code parallelization to provide more timely data analysis, including possibly implementation of new algorithms more amenable to parallelization, and implementation of improved algorithms for the solution of partial differential equations in many variables, and for optimization. Development of novel ideas for improved algorithms will be encouraged. Please refer to job code 31 when responding to this ad.
