Position summary Siemens Corporate Research (SCR), a division of Siemens Corporation, is Siemens largest research center outside of Europe. The Production Processes Center of Competency at Siemens Corporate Research (SCR PP) consists of a team of consultants who are experts in product lifecycle management, manufacturing, supply chain, and service management. They execute research in the assigned areas as agreed with the Global Technology Field (GTF) Leader within Corporate Technology. Research results are applied to the business challenges of the Siemens business sectors delivering knowledge through consulting projects which assist the Siemens sectors and divisions to enhance value. The Consultant Service Management reports to the Director of the Production Processes Center of Competency. He/she will be responsible for all aspects of further developing a Service Management consulting portfolio within SCR PP. This includes the acquisition of projects within the Siemens businesses, development of go-to-market strategies and research on the subject matter. In particular, he/she will be responsible to develop compelling offerings improving a business units service performance, saving cost through streamlining service processes and differentiating against competitors with state of the art service technologies. By providing the Siemens divisions with technology and process innovations to strengthen their competitive position, he/shecontributes to SCRs reputation as a leading American industrial research laboratory. Job responsibilities: o Build, maintain and enhance relationships with decision makers in the Siemens operating divisions for service-related topics o Contribute to Siemens success by supporting the business units with proven approaches to increase service business o Apply state-of-the-art service process frameworks, methods, tools and technologies o Maintain and expand the US Service Community o Acquire consulting projects based on established business target agreements o Create a business development strategy, in alignment with the GTF leader for Service Management at CT PP o Contribute in projects by creating innovative service business strategies for our customers and support the successful implementation o Define and prioritize the departments portfolio of service R&D projects; build technology leadership and constantly review and benchmark; maintain relationships with lead universities o Support the growth of the team by attracting talent as well as coaching and training of new employees o Financial responsibility for the service management activity within SCR PP - acquire project funding and monitor budget and cost Qualifications - MBA, MS or PhD (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Production / Industrial Engineering or Operations Research - Excellent knowledge and proven experience in service-related consulting (5 years), preferably familiarity with the service process framework and tools used within Siemens - Solid understanding of the success factors for service business - Familiar with the Siemens organization in the United States, preferably well connected to one or more US-based Siemens service divisions - Successful track record in acquiring new customers for (consulting) projects - Enthusiastic team player experienced in negotiating with European and American partners - Experience with managing budgets - Strategic orientation and organizational skills - Change orientation and assertiveness - Innovative and creative mindset - Solid analytical skills - Excellent presentation skills - Strong networking skills and customer focus - Interdisciplinary thinking and collaboration - Experience in building, motivating and managing teams of technology and process experts - Proven coaching and mentoring skills - High energy and self-starter mentality SCR offers a stimulating research environment and rewarding career opportunities.
