This position is open to individuals looking for a contract-to-hire OR permanent position.
The DBA team is a small group so the Team Lead will have to have some hands on experience in addition to supervisory/management skills - writing performance reviews etc.
This will be a working manager type role. Individual will need to be hands-on.
This position is a "high impact", very critical position. This individual will have access to the key people with-in a large international oganization.
The incumbent will manage a team of DBA*s responsible for coordinating the implementation, configuration, and administration of large-scale Sybase and MS SQL databases in an online environment.
Must be proactive in ensuring stable and continuous services, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced 24/7 start-up environment.
Coordinates the implementation of databases, support of applications, database server platforms, tools and utilities into the database environment.
Plans and coordinates the integration of systems into the production environment following the production migration process.
Develops and maintains processes and procedures for performing database management and administration functions for the production environment.
Facilitates integration efforts for the environment and coordinates quality assurance activities in support of a structured approach to systems integration and database management.
Facilitates communication of database additions, deletions or changes to the operations team. Responsible for documentation of maintenance schedules, tuning activities and ad hoc requests to the database.
Coordinates with IT Infrastructure at other locations as required.

Manages the activities, initiatives and results of assigned Sybase and MS SQL DBA*s
Oversees database maintenance and tuning, including the development and maintenance of accurate documentation and process procedures.
Supports capacity planning function to ensure infrastructure supports growth.
Supports implementation and roll outs.
Oversees the development of SQL for tools, utilities, ad-hoc reporting and data QA.
Oversee high availability and disaster recovery technologies and processes
Adminsters database security.
Implements Database backup and recovery processes and procedures.
Oversees database configuration management, schema, stored procedures, triggers, etc.
Develops utilities using shell and Perl scripts.
Consults with development teams for implementing best practices.
Develops implementation, migration and recovery processes with Operational documentation.
bRequirements:/b
previous experience working with a mission critical application in an highly transactional environment
3 plus year team lead experience with database systems.
Experience with PC and LAN environments.
3 - 5 years experience with Sybase ASE in a web environment,
Experience with Sybase IQ, and MS SQL Server.
Experience with Sybase Replication Server.
Experience in production change control processes.
Experience in managing configuration and creation of databases for optimal performance
Knowledge in setting up and using administration tools for performance tuning/optimization, application schema design.
Experience with SQL, stored procedures, triggers, shell scripting and DB administrations tools.
Experience in AIX environment.
Experience with stored procedures, triggers, and DB tools.
Experience developing backup and recovery processes, procedures and scripts.
Knowledge of IP based networking protocols and services
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
