Java Peformance Engineer

Continuously improve web based e-commerce application through the identification of tuning, re-engineering and caching opportunities and where ever possible, make appropriate code enhancements for submission to QA and ultimate promotion to production.

Assist in building a performance management practice, including the deployment of tools that measure and monitor performance of applications in an automated fashion. Assist with measuring performance at various points in the development lifecycle.

Establish resource utilization budgets for the components of the webstore. Define and analyze gaps between those budgets and current operation of the components. Provide recommendations for improvements to software/systems to achieve and maintain budgets.




Minimum Requirements:
• Java development background 5-7 years
• Experience with high performance/high volume web sites and web services
• Experience with BEA Weblogic 8.x application server
• Experience with BEA Jrockit JVM and its tuning
• Experience with using one or more commercial or public domain java profilers e.g. JProbe, Optimizeit, Cougaar, JMP
• Knowledge of SQL and experience optimizing SQL queries
• Experience producing performance assessments of software systems
• Experience automating performance assessments
• Systems engineering/architecture experience 3-5 years (implementation of multi-tiered systems including web servers, application servers, database servers, load balancers, firewalls, etc).
• Distributed systems and web services architecture, security and performance
• Experience with the Linux operating system
• Bachelors Degree in science field i.e. engineering, math or computer science. Masters preferred
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Strong problem solving and quantitative skills. Capable of independently seeking solutions to problems
