SQL DBA/Developer

Modis is seeking experienced SQL DBA/Developer for one of their clients due to growth and required staff demands.

Our Client, Located in Bala Cynwyd, PA; is the leader in their industry with continued growth forecasted. 



The client is seeking a SQL DBA/Developer with the following experience and credentials: 



Responsibilities include:

* Database Design— This DBA will lead the preliminary database-design stages. Through the involvement of this DBA, many problems that might occur can be eliminated. This DBA, knowing the DBMS, will focus on acquiring a vast understanding of the current database schemas.

* Data Modeling and Optimization — For new projects and feature enhancements requiring an extension of the database design, this DBA will be a principle in modeling the data.  They will optimize the system layout to take the most advantage of the I/O subsystem.  They will analyze the functions of the application to provide the physical database design including the recommended RAID Level based on read write percentages in order to produce optimum performance. 

* Being an Expert DBA and specializing in Application Support through database design, this DBA will be a backup to any operational issues that may arise within the Database Services area of responsibility.  They will become familiar with the Standard Operating Procedures relating to the Database Services Team regarding disaster recovery, business continuity, and overall emergency actions required to troubleshoot production outages or degradation in performance.

Required Experience & Skills

ü      Administrate and manage the SQL server 2000 and 2005

ü      Support of SQL server tools including DST, SSIS, and reporting services

ü      5 plus years development SQL server admin (some production would be nice too)

ü      Experience with  SQL server clustering is a STRONG PLUS (active/active)

ü      Strong interpersonal skills

ü      In-depth knowledge of information systems concepts

ü      Strong knowledge of applicable methodologies, tools, standards, and procedures

ü      Demonstrated decision-making and leadership abilities

ü      Strong organizational and problem solving abilities

ü      Strong verbal and written communication skills

ü      Required: B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree or a minimum 5 years of directly related experience
