General Information:
City Year is a national service organization challenging 17-24 year olds to dedicate a year to becoming an integral part of social change through national service and leadership development. Each year more than 1,500 corps members serve on diverse teams to take on multi-faceted roles providing academic support in under-resourced schools, leading innovative education programs, developing after-school programs, providing college & career guidance, implementing physical service projects, and serving as role models to youth.
Each year, 1500 young adults commit to becoming an integral part of social change. Corps members serve on teams in some of Philadelphia's most under-resourced schools to mentor and tutor students, provide in-class support, run after-school programs, provide college & career guidance, and implement physical service projects.
City Year is also an 'action tank' for citizen service that works to promote the concept of voluntary citizen service as a means of building a stronger democracy. The experience provides young adults with a unique opportunity to make a dramatic impact on the lives of children while also serving as an advocate for social change in our community, nation, and world. City Year is a great opportunity for young adults who are looking for a challenging and rewarding post-graduate experience—and for the third consecutive year, has been featured in the Princeton Review’s “Best Entry-Level Jobs” as one of 112 companies recommended as great places for new grads to work.
