Logging In

  1. I forgot my password...help! No problem!  Fill out our online Password Request form and we'll send it immediately to you!

  2. I can't seem to log into JobCircle, but I know my name and password are correct.  What's wrong? Remember that JobCircle name and passwords are case sensitive.  You must type your name and password exactly as shown in your email that you received from JobCircle.com.  Some other possible problems could include: a) you are accessing the internet from a proxy server that does not allow authentication to JobCircle.com (like from work).  b) You have exceeded the number of simultaneous network connections that Internet Explorer or Netscape allows.  Simply close your browser, re-open it, and try again.  See more on this in the answers below.

  3. I've requested for my password to be sent to me, and I didn't get it.  Why? Remember that some mail systems can take up to 1 hour to deliver mail.  JobCircle instantly sends out your name and password to you, so you should be getting it shortly.  Please remember that the name/password is sent to the email box of the email that you have used to originally set up your account, so be sure to check that box for the email.  If you still do not have your name/password, send us an email, and after verifying your identity, we will send it to you.

  4. After I change my password, I get a message saying that my authentication failed.  Why do I get that message, when I typed my password correctly? This is the proper function of the web browser, just type your new username and password.

  5. Help, I can't get logged into my account? I am not being prompted to enter my username and password, instead I just get an access denied screen. If you are using Internet Explorer, please follow these instructions:
    • Open an Internet Explorer window, then click on the 'Tools' menu, and select the 'Internet Options' menu item.
    • Then click on the 'Security' tab. Now select the 'Internet' zone, and then click on the 'Custom Level...' button.
    • Scroll down to the bottom, and look at the settings for 'User Authentication'. Make sure the 'Automatic logon with current username and password' setting is selected. If not, please select it and then click 'OK'.
    • Click 'Ok' again to close the 'Internet Options' window.
    • Now try to click on the 'Login' link on our web site again, and you will see the username and password prompt now.

  6. Help, I can't seem to get logged into my account? I don't understand, I am typing my exact username and password that you sent me.

There are two steps to take to verify that your software is functioning correctly.

    • First, if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, please check your current version.  You can do this by clicking on the "Help" menu and selecting "About Internet Explorer".  If you have version 2.0 or earlier, you must upgrade your software using the Internet Explorer link below.  There are known issues with these versions.

Or if you are using Netscape Navigator, please check your current version by clicking on the "Help" menu and selecting "About Netscape Navigator".  If you have version 2.0 or earlier, I recommend you upgrade to the newest version.

To download Internet Explorer, click here: Microsoft Internet Explorer
To download Netscape's Browser, click here: Netscape Navigator

    • Secondly, please note what the browser is showing in the authentication window, the important piece of information is who is requesting the authentication.

For example, in Netscape, the window displays: "Enter username for JobCircle.Com at http://www.jobcircle.com:80:", below this information it asks for your username and password.

In Internet Explorer, it displays the requesting site as "Resource: JobCircle.Com".

This is important because it tells you who is requesting your username and password.  In the case of most corporate offices, companies have either a firewall or proxy server that is allowing you to access the Internet.  If you are seeing any requestor listed other than "JobCircle.Com", then you are being prompted for your proxy or firewall login.  This login is normally your network username and password, but please see your corporate system or network administrator for more details on your login process.  As always, if you have any questions, please send us an e-mail at support@jobcircle.com.

Email Questions

  1. How do I change my email address on JobCircle.com? To change your email address so that your agent mails and employer contact emails go to the right place, simply click the "Change your email address" on your Career Center home page, and type your new email address into the box provided.  This will change your email address for your entire account.

  2. How do I stop getting Agent emails from JobCircle.com? If you are getting your resume agent daily emails, and you do not want to get them anymore, then simply log into your Career Center, and remove your agents, or click on the link at the bottom of each agent email, and you can instantly remove your agent from the system.  This will stop any agent emails you had been receiving.  You can also set up additional agents from your Member Center as well.  If you have set up a Guest agent, then simply click the link at the bottom of the agent email, and you'll be instantly removed.

  3. I made my resume inactive, but I'm still getting agents.  Why? Some job seekers keep their resume inactive, but like to monitor what new jobs are coming into JobCircle.com.  You will still get your agents even though your resume is inactive.  If you do not want to get agents, you must log into your Career Center and delete these agents.

  4. I want to stop getting emails about job fairs, and other local events, but I want to keep my resume in the system. To stop getting emails about and employment events, simply edit your resume, and uncheck the Events notification.  This will mean that you will still get your agents and any emails from employers, but you will not receive any information about job fairs, training opportunities or technology events.

  5. What is your Anti-Spam Policy? JobCircle.com uses email as integral part of its business operations, including email marketing, jobseeker & member job delivery, and announcements regarding career fair events, education events, and other recruitment or educational messages.  We recognize the importance of not abusing our email priviledges and take alleged complaints very seriously.  If you have a complaint, please send an email to support@jobcircle.com for immediate review.

JobCircle.com has a rigorous anti-spam and email management policy that includes the following:

    • All jobseeker resumes have an opt-in clause that allows users to check a box indicating that they would like to be informed of career and educational opportunities.  Any mass mailings use this opt-in list.
    • JobCircle.com provides our full street address and phone number so email recipients can contact us for immediate removal in every email correspondence that is sent out.
    • JobCircle.com provides a 'remove@jobcircle.com' email and a full one-click URL link for instant no-hassle removal from our database.
    • We send out an average of over 130,000 opt-in emails each night alerting jobseekers of new jobs that match their search criteria.  These agents are established by the recipient, and contain phone, email and web-based removal tools.
    • JobCircle.com posts clear signage at all of our recruitment events to make people aware that they are exposing their resume and email address in a public forum to assist them in making the decision to submit their data to us.
    • We have created comprehensive bounce count and email monitoring tools to manage and remove email addresses that may bounce due to abandonment or a full mailbox.  We maintain a bounce count threshold on every email address we send to so that we may ensure we do not create increased server load and a large volume of undeliverable emails.
    • Resumes that are collected from third-party relationships are always sent an introduction email indicating where we obtained their information, and providing them information to instantly opt-out of any future correspondence.

JobCircle.com makes a concerted effort to eliminate complaints, but there are occasional incidents where people may not understand how to remove themselves, or may have forgotten that they had submitted a resume or opted into an event.  JobCircle.com routinely monitors spam libraries, newsgroups and other complaint forums to ensure that any alleged complaints are dealt with in a prompt and responsible manner.  Additionally, also work very closely with US LEC, our national commercial internet service provider and data warehouse center, to ensure that we meet their strict anti-spam guidelines.

  6. How do I fix broken images on Agent emails from JobCircle.com? There is a known issue with IE 8 when reading emails through the gmail web-based client, all images appear to be broken, regardless of whether the 'Display images' link has been clicked within the email.  This is due to the fact that Gmail uses a secure connection to display email, and the images are located on a non-secure server, so IE 8 prohibits the message from being displayed for security purposes.  This only happens to gmail users who are using IE 8; IE 7 appears to be fine.

There is a simple setting fix that you can do to resolve this issue.  Once the setting has been changed, a full close/restart of all open browsers will be needed before the images appear.

    Here's how it is done:

tools --> internet options --> security tab --> custom level --> internet level --> miscellaneous section --> display mixed content --> change from disable or prompt to enable --> close all browsers

Resume Questions

  1. How do I make my resume inactive? To make your resume inactive, log into your account.  On your Personal Career Center you'll see a drop down box on the left hand side of the page.  Simply change your status to inactive.  This will remove your resume from employer searches, and make you "invisible".  You will however, still receive agents and notifications about technology events unless you remove all of your agents and check the opt-out box on your resume by editing it.

  2. How do I send my resume to JobCircle.com? You don't.  We never feed resumes into our database; each resume in our database is entered by the job seeker themselves.  You can do this by clicking the "Submit Resume" on our front page, and follow the instructions.

  3. How much does it cost to enter my resume into JobCircle.com? JobCircle is absolutely free to the job seeker.  There are no costs associated with a job seeker's account, the job seeker's personal home page, and any of the other features available to job seekers including the viewing of classified ads, employment resources, and much more.

  4. How do I update my resume JobCircle.com? To update your resume on JobCircle.com, simply log in (if you forgot your password, click here) and you'll see a list of resumes we have on file for you.  Under the resume you would like to edit, click the 'Edit' link.  This will allow you to edit your resume and upload a new word document to attach to your profile.

  5. I want my resume to be confidential.  How do I do this, and how do employers contact me? When you submit your resume to JobCircle.com, you can opt for confidentiality.  This means that no one can see your name, street address, or email address.  They can, however, see your city, and this is so they can determine if you would be willing to make the commute to the opportunity.  The employer must contact you through JobCircle.com.  You'll get an email from the employer, but the employer will never see your confidential information. You can then determine whether you are interested in this employer or the opportunity, and choose whether you want to return their email.

  6. I don't want any employer to see my resume on JobCircle.com.  How do I do this? What you want to do is make your resume Inactive.  When you make your JobCircle.com resume inactive, no one will see your resume.  It will not show up in any employer search, and JobCircle will never provide this information to anyone.  The benefit of having your resume inactive is that you can still receive your agent emails to monitor what's coming in to the site, as well as receive community updates about tech or employment events from us.  Then, when you're ready to look again down the road, simply flip the switch, make your resume active, and you'll appear in the employer searches and agents!

  7. I joined, got a password, and now I am attempting to post my resume.  There seems to be no way to do that.  When I click "submit your resume," I get the join form again.  Please help? After you have received your password, you must log into our computer system using the "Login" link/button on our home page.  Or go to http://www.jobcircle.com:80/private/member_login by clicking this link.  When you are prompted for a username and password, please enter the ones that were sent to you.  Once you are logged into our computer system, you will be able to add/modify/delete information from your resume.  Note:You will want to retain your username and password for future use.  We are always updating our member sites with new and interesting information and utilities.  Feel free to browse these once logged in.

  8. Once I enter my resume into JobCircle, what else can I do? After you enter your resume, you can log in again any time and you will be able to update your resume, view how many times someone has viewed your resume, and make your resume inactive once you've found a job.  You can still update your resume at any time as your career develops and your experiences change...and if you elect to make your resume inactive, no one will be able to see your resume except for you.  Keep up to date by setting up some agents, so you can see what new ads are being posted.  Be sure to visit often to read Tech news, or participate in our discussion databases.

Online Training Questions

  1. What materials do I get with my training? Nothing!  The beauty of our online training is that you can take the courses and assessments online, anytime, anywhere as many times as you want for a period of up to 12 months after purchase!

  2. How does the online training work? If you are a JobCircle.com member (meaning you already have your resume in our system) you can purchase training by clicking the link in the middle of your Member Center, choose your courses, and we'll sync up your Resume username and password and your Training account so you can access your training from your Resume Center.  If you do not have a Resume Account, you'll be asked to provide some information, and we'll set up a training account for you.

  3. I bought the training with my credit card.  How do I log in? Simply visit the front page of our web site, and click the login link at the top of the page.

  4. I forgot my training password.  How can I get it again? Visit our Password Request form to have it resent to you.

  5. What are the requirements to use the training courses?

To use the training courses you need Internet Explorer with cookies, JavaScript and Java enabled, and you also need the the Macromedia Authorware Plugin.  Supported browsers are Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater on Windows 98/ME/2000/XP only.  Sorry, the Apple Macintosh is not supported, as Microsoft dropped support for IE on the Macintosh.  To verify that your IE browser passes all the required checks, please click on the following link: Check my browser now!

  6. I purchased training, and am taking a course.  I followed the instructions during the training to install the Authorware plugin for my browser, however it still isn't working.  How can I get the Authorware plugin to install properly? The Authorware plugin referenced in the training sometimes has a problem installing with newer browsers.

Please download the Authorware Player from Macromedia.com:

  7. When I click on the link to purchase training, immediately I get a page that says the page cannot be displayed, what is wrong? At JobCircle, we use the highest level of encryption on our servers to protect your personal and credit card information while purchasing.  If your browser doesn't support the highest level of encryption you will need to download the High Encryption Update for your browser.  For Internet Explorer, you can check which level of encryption you have by clicking on the "Help" menu and then selecting the "About Internet Explorer" menu item.  You want to look under the listing for Cipher Strength.  If this is less than 128-bit, you need to update Internet Explorer.

  8. I am using Internet Explorer, my browser is updated to allow 128-bit encryption, however I still cannot get to the secure purchasing page, what is wrong? If the cipher strength shows 128-bit or greater and you are still having problems, please make sure the following settings are enabled:

Click on the "Tools" menu, and select the "Internet Options..." menu item.  When the window opens up click on the "Advanced" tab.  Make sure the following options are checked under the "Security" section: (depending on your version the first two may not be shown)

    • PCT 1.0
    • TLS 1.0
    • SSL 2.0
    • SSL 3.0

Classifieds Agent Questions

  1. How do I change an existing agent? To add or delete agents, visit the Agent Manager link on your Resume Control Center page (assuming your resume is in JobCircle).  We don't have a change feature, because you can simultaneously add and delete agents in the same amount of time that it would take you to modify them. Simply add the new agent, and check the box to delete the old agent, and press process agent changes.  If your resume is not in JobCircle.com, then you have a Guest agent - simply click the link to delete the agent you don't want, and run a search to save your new agent.

  2. How do I activate my agents?  I'm not getting any hits! As for activating the agents - they are always activated, and if they receive a hit for you, they'll notify you via email.  If you're not getting agents, you may be being too specific, or you may have given us an incorrect email.  The agents act similar to the searching, so you can always try your agent first as a search, and if it returns desired results, save it as an agent.

  3. What's the difference between a Guest Agent and a Member Agent? We have two types of agents - 1)Member agents are set up within your JobCircle.com Resume account, and you can come back, delete them, add new ones, and manage them via your Agent Manager - 2)Guest agents - these are set up when you run a search, and at the top of the search results page, you have the option to simply place an email in there, and you're set up!  You don't have to be a member to take advantage of the Classifieds agents.

  4. How do I delete my agents? If you desire to delete your agents, you can do so both from your agent manager (assuming you have your resume in JobCircle), or by clicking a link in the bottom of the agent to remove it.

  5. What time should I get my agent each day? Agents are run nightly, around 12:00 am, and over 100,000 agents are processed each night.  If your agent finds any new or modified jobs that match your search criteria, you'll typically get an email from us around 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.  The new jobs are always displayed first, and the modified jobs (meaning a recruiter has updated the job) will be shown with a "Still Available" designation.

  6. What email do you use to send agents to? We send your agents directly to whatever email address you are using in the resume (assuming you are a resume member).

General JobCircle Site Questions

  1. I keep getting an annoying page asking for my zip code and industry of interest (or asking me to make JobCircle.com my home page) - how do I make it stop? JobCircle.com prompts you to enter a zip code and industry of interest if you have never been to our site before, or if you are on a computer that has never been to our site before.  This box also pops up if you have cleared out your cookies on your browser.  When you tell us your zip code and industry of interest, we can then display regional event information, provide regional searching and agents, and other features that are centered around your geographic location and interests.  We drop a cookie that contains your zip code, your city's latitude and longitude, and your industry of interest that indicates what type of jobs and content we should show you.

A cookie is a piece of data that resides on your machine that is referenced by the web browser when a call for that cookie is made by a web site that has placed it there.  No other site can access or see cookies "dropped" onto your machine by JobCircle.com, and JobCircle.com only uses cookies for several purposes: a) to store zip code, so we can regionalize JobCircle.com to be a local job board for you, and b) your search information (i.e. search string, your desired radius, etc.) so you don't have to key in the same search every time you come back to the site, c) whether we've asked you if you want to make JobCircle.com your home page, and d) for making online applications easier by storing your name, salary levels, commute preferences, etc.).  By enabling cookies for use with JobCircle.com, it helps us know where you're from, so we can show you local jobs, companies, and career information that is specifically related to your region, and it makes our site generally more easier and quick to use.

However, if you keep getting prompted for zip code, there could be a few reasons for this:

    1. You never populated the zip code box.  Fill in the form, and it will go away.
    2. You have cookies turned off on your browser.  Therefore, the web site thinks you've never been to us before because you're prohibiting us from dropping cookies, and keeps prompting you to enter your zip code so we can regionalize to your area.  JobCircle.com uses this information to regionalize you, thereby simulating that we are 35 miles around your zip code.  Cookies are required for effective use of our site.
    3. The same reasoning is applied for the home page prompt.
To enable cookies, in IE, click the Tools tab in your browser, and select the Privacy tab.  Check the Override automatic cookie handling, and check accept 1st party cookies.

  2. Does JobCircle.com ever resell my information? Absolutely not.  All information in the JobCircle.com database is never provided to anyone, and is considered completely private.  JobCircle.com wants to build a lasting relationship with the community, and reselling your information would definitely not be the way to do this.  If you ever encounter an instance where you feel that someone has improperly used your information on JobCircle.com, please report this violation to us immediately, and we will investigate.

  3. Some of these type of job boards are owned by a big staffing company or some type of agency.  Is JobCircle.com one of these sites? No.  JobCircle.com is a privately owned company, and was founded by four technology people who wanted to build a web site that added value to our peers.  We are not a agency, headhunter, or third party recruiter.  We simply provide a medium for employers and employees to communicate, and we provide information and employment tools to assist the professional in growing their career.
